This is a WALKING Tour!

Photos and videos allowed! (Safety tips provided by guides on how to take pictures/videos safely!)

No food or drink provided on tour - guests will have to cover their own food and drinks costs!

Guests will meet their guide(s) at LOCO Mexican Restaurant in Braamfontein where you’re invited to get yourself a coffee or light snack from this lovely restaurant

Starting in Braamfontein, guests can expect to see a lot of street art and some of the cool hangout spots that highlight why this area is one of the coolest areas in the city!

We then head to Newtown which is rich in Graffiti and home to the “underground” club culture of “Joburg” – in this area, you’ll see some of the best graffiti pieces by some of the city’s most iconic artists while also learning about the role Newtown plays in promoting Hip-Hop and Street culture!

From Newtown, we jump into an Uber that’ll take us to our next destination on the tour which is in Maboneng.

This tour ends in the Maboneng Precinct with its colourful graffiti, street art and large murals – voted as one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods by Forbes in 2018, its the perfect place to finish off this amazing tour!

This tour is all about showing you the wonderful graffiti and street art found in Johannesburg and the positive impact the artists and these subcultures have on this city!

We sometimes invite a Graffiti Writer to join on this tour but it’s always subject to their availability i.e. there’s no guarantee that they’ll join on your tour!

 

 

 

Where we go to!

Braamfontein

One of the coolest neighbourhoods in the city with cool people, dope graffiti, killer fashion and fun hang-spots!

It's also home to Joburg's "City of Gold" Graffiti Festival!

Newtown

An industrial area home to the city's coolest underground clubs and street Graffiti!

Once a year, it hosts the annual "Back to the City" Hip Hop Festival in April!

Jewel City

A new residential development in the inner city with cool street art and murals along its walls!

Maboneng

Voted one of the world's coolest neighbourhoods in 2018 by Forbes, it has a rich mix of graffiti and street art by both local and international artists!

Fun area to hang out too!

Hallmark House (Rooftop)

The best rooftop in the city with 360' views of Joburg!

This is by far the best place to end this tour and enjoy the golden hour, sundowners and sunset in the city!

Is there parking available?

We only have secure parking for the following tours:

Maboneng Street Art and Culture Tour

For all other tours, there is street parking available but used entirely at your own risk. Please let us know beforehand if you plan on coming with your own vehicle so we can sort out safer parking spots for you.

NB!

We highly recommend guests use e-hailing services to and from tours so you don’t have to worry about parking and the safety of your vehicle!

Are children allowed?

For Skateboarding Tours –

Children are allowed BUT must be accompanied by an adult (over 18) for the full duration of the tour.

We recommend the Maboneng Skate Tour for families with children under 14 years old – it’s shorter and roads are quieter on weekends (SAT – SUN).

Chidlren under the age of 5 years old are not recommended on these tours – however, if they can skate already then they’ll be fine!

 

For All Other Tours – Graffiti & Street Art Tours, Walking Tours

Children are allowed but must be accompanied by an adult (over 18) for the full duration of the tour.

What do we do in case of bad weather?

Skateboarding Tours –

These are heavily weather dependent meaning that if its raining and the roads are too wet, these tour can be either postponed (to a later time or date) or cancelled.

In the case of a cancellation, guests have the option to postpone their tour to another date or request a refund!

Graffiti & Street Art, Walking Tours –

Unless there’s lightning and heavy rain, these tours will not be affected by the weather!

 

We encourage guests to check the weather conditions prior to coming on the tour.
